University Community is the space in SFMC to communicate to Ohio State's internal audiences (students, faculty and staff). There are two methods of using audience data. This video covers the manual upload and contact matching process for audience lists (DEs).

This video course introduces email marketers to the University Community (UC) area of SFMC. This course will introduce details for building and sending emails. There are specific audience use cases for UC. This area is for internal communications within Ohio State. Internal communications are messages to faculty, staff and/or current students. Emails sent from this business unit are considered transactional and are a condition of active employment or enrollment.

2 Email send shared planning calendar, TeamUp

TeamUp is the university's enterprise email planning calendar tool. This calendar view provides marketers and leaders a central view of bulk email sends from the university, enabling us to better coordinate send dates and avoid inundating our audiences. Internal and external audience communications should consider whether the message is necessary, informative and combined when possible to prevent inbox fatigue.

3 Audience matching for internal University Community email sends

Details to review before using the contact matching tool: 

  • The audience list must be in a .csv file format
  • The file name should not have spaces, it may have dashes or underscores
  • The list must have email addresses in a column, check for blank spaces in the email addresses
  • The list may include other columns with attributes and/or data that will be pulled into the email content or used for segmentation
  • The tool will produce a success file that an be uploaded to the Univeristy Community business unit only. A failed file will also be produced to inform you of contacts that do not match records within Salesforce Marketing Cloud
