SFMC | Salesforce Sender Profiles

A sender profile within Salesforce Marketing Cloud specifies the “from” information for a send in a central location. SFMC allows the reuse of sender profiles across multiple email sends. The sender profile contains the name and email address that the message appears to be from in the recipient’s inbox.

How do I know if I need a new sender profile created?

When working on an email in SFMC, in the "save and send" step SFMC will ask to define email properties. Under the "Saved Send Classification" there is a Sender Profile dropdown with all of the available sender profiles. Each sender profile name starts with a unit code to help you easily identify the profiles associated with your unit. If you select a sender profile, the description, from name, from email, reply name and reply email will be displayed. If what is needed is not listed here, request a new sender profile. The request form may also be used to request a change to a current profile, write the details of the old sender profile in the comment section.

What information do I need to provide?

To have a new sender profile created for your email sends, you will need to provide:

  • The business unit the profile is needed for
  • The name of the new profile (i.e. ENG Engineering Events; OPRES President Johnson)
  • A description of the profile (Engineering event invitations; Messages from the president)
  • Sender from name (be certain the audience will understand who the email from)
  • Sender from email address (must use @t.osu.edu domain, which will work with any existing @osu.edu email address)
  • Reply name
  • Reply email address
