SFMC | Modular Content Sharing

The Ohio State University’s Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) Email and Automation team offers a capability for campaign sharing and storytelling. The intent is to simplify storytelling and initiate support for highly visible and evergreen campaigns.

What is a campaign module?

The campaign module is a block of content developed for a specific reason consisting of a piece of creative and supporting text in a predetermined module that can easily be added to all SFMC-templated emails. The design of the module follows brand standards. The modules are shared within SFMC business units (ie. Alumni Donors & Friends, University Community, etc. as determined by the content.).

Purpose

The purpose of sharing modules is to implement cross-functional sharing for The Ohio State Office of Marketing and Communication's initiatives from a centralized area, as it applies to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Sharing evergreen content supports brand consistency in email. Once a module is placed in the email template, the copy and image can be adjusted to suit the specific college or unit’s perspective of the content. The instructions are to keep the styles for brand and campaign consistency.

  • The intent is to prevent duplicative efforts for content creation across the university
  • Provides the opportunity for greater adoption and engagement
  • The team is working on tracking each module's content from within SFMC to understand adoption and engagement (coming FY2025)

Module creation

The OMC Email and Automation team creates assets for each shareable campaign module. The standard email template training will apply to the use of modules. The shared module content is located within the SFMC Alumni Donors & Friends business unit for commercial communications. If the content aligns with internal communications, it will be made available in the University Community business unit.
