The Digital Inventory System of university websites is designed to manage and track university websites. It will organize, store, and retrieve data and policy compliance information related to websites. This system was created to support the University Websites Policy.
Digital Inventory System
Who can use the University Digital Inventory of websites?
Anyone working for the university can log-in to look up a website by:
- url: Search for a web address
- keyword, name or acronym: search the name of the website
- name.number: search for a person affiliated with websites
- unit: search by office, college or unit
If you are part of the Wexner Medical Center staff, you may encounter a request to use Microsoft Fabric. You can ask for access, and you will need to login with your Ohio State name.number credentials.
At this time, student workers do not have access to the Digital Inventory system of websites.
Who can add or change the inventory?
Every website has a Web lead and a Technical Manager. The Web lead or the Technical manager can manage or change the inventory records. Web roles define clear responsibilities, ensure accountability, and facilitate effective web governance to ensure websites are in compliance with the policy.
Note: It takes 24-hours for changes to appear in the Digital Inventory record.
Training for web leads
Web leads and technical managers can learn about their roles through this short training video. (Video transcript) Expect to review and revisit training once a year to keep websites in sync with the policy.
Manage your website roles
People at Ohio State change roles from time to time. If the Digital Inventory System shows incorrect web leads, request a change.
