Kent Kroger
With over 20 years of experience in brand strategy, creative direction and marketing leadership, Kroger leads the brand marketing team within the Office of Marketing and Communications, advancing the relevance, resonance and distinctiveness of Ohio State's brand through disciplined and contemporary marketing practices.
Kroger previously spent six years as the Associate Vice President for Brand and Creative at Nationwide, where he spearheaded a comprehensive rebranding effort, optimized team structures and implemented design thinking and agile principles to drive efficiency and success.
Known for his strategic vision, analytical thinking and ability to inspire and motivate teams, Kroger fosters collaborative and trusting cultures. He encourages curiosity and creativity while harnessing technology to amplify efforts.
Under his leadership, teams have achieved remarkable engagement levels and delivered impactful work that resonates with audiences. He is also committed to inclusive recruiting practices, having supported initiatives that increased diversity and exposure to careers in the creative industry.
Prior to joining the university, Kroger held marketing and creative positions at Nationwide, The Ohio State University Department of Athletics and the University of Illinois Illini Union. He holds a Master of Business in Marketing from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Iowa State University.
With his proven ability to lead teams, nurture collaborative cultures and drive positive change, Kroger is well-positioned to contribute to Ohio State's mission of improving communities through learning, innovation, service and teamwork.
Kroger lives in The Circles neighborhood with his partner, Stephen. He previously served on the International Board of Directors for FarmHouse Fraternity and is an active supporter of the Columbus arts scene.
In his free time, you can find him trying new recipes, spending time outside in nature or planning his next travel adventure — continually inspired by exploring new and diverse cultures.
