Lindsay Komlanc
As associate vice president, University Communications, Lindsay M. Komlanc serves as a senior leader and communications strategist within the Office of Marketing and Communications at The Ohio State University.
She leads both the executive communications and public affairs teams, responsible for driving proactive communications strategies for key issues and initiatives that advance the university’s priorities and mission, as well as university issues of reputational significance, emergency and crisis communications. These teams act as primary liaisons across the university to create integrated communications plans and to develop and promote strategic messaging.
Working closely with the Office of the President, President’s Cabinet and marketing and communications leaders across the university, Komlanc identifies and assembles cross-functional teams that create strategic responses as issues arise, also applying the same approach to creating strategies that promote institutional priorities. Combining expertise to engage and connect with multiple audiences, Komlanc’s teams support the development and effective communication of presidential priorities.
Komlanc joined Ohio State in 2012 as the director of marketing and communications for the Office of Administration and Planning, leading strategic marketing and communications efforts focused on facilities, transportation, construction, real estate and public safety. She moved to University Communications in 2014 to lead the development of Ohio State’s strategic issues management function.
Focusing the majority of her career on public service, Komlanc previously served as communications director for the Ohio Department of Public Safety and in various leadership roles for the Ohio Department of Transportation, including media coordination, communications and public outreach.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Komlanc came to Ohio to attend Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She is a member of the board of directors for Students Against Destructive Decisions, working to support its mission of empowering young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them in their daily lives. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, traveling and volunteering for a Columbus-based nonprofit dog rescue.
